Unless one maintains his core PRINCIPLES, and commits to stay - true, to them, rather than either, playing politics, or taking a path of least resistance, he isn't fit to be, nor should he be considered, a genuine, meaningful, effective, real leader! Before one decides to proceed, he should give himself, an introspective, objective look, or check - up, from the neck - up, and be certain, he is ready, willing and able, to commit to putting service to the organization, and his constitutions, priority, over any personal/ political agenda, and/ or, self - interest! With that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, what this means and represents, and why it matters.
1. Priorities; planning: A leader should ask himself, whether his priorities, and those of his organization, align, in a meaningful way! Once one creates priorities, and dedicates himself, to addressing them, one must commit to the utmost excellence, in terms of the level of his leadership planning!
2. Relevant; reliable; responsive; realistic: It's not leading, if one's action plan, and strategic planning, is not truly relevant, well - considered, sustainable, and considers as many contingencies, as possible! Others depend on their leaders, to be reliable, realistic, and responsive to their needs, goals, perceptions, priorities, etc!
3. Integrity; imagination; innovate: Either one maintains absolute integrity, or he will never earn the trust of stakeholders, and be able to transform them, to more - involved, followers, etc! When this is combined with a well - developed, imagination, the confidence to innovate, and the ability, to keep, one's eyes, on the ball, we begin to see, a leader born!
4. Needs: Leading means emphasizing real needs, perceptions, etc, and perceiving and conceiving of, creating, developing, and implementing, the finest action plan!
5. Character; creative; coordinate: Measure a potential leader, by the consistent quality of his character! Is he creative, and committed, enough, to coordinate others, for the common good?
6. Ideas; ideals: Only when the necessary ideals, are aligned with well - considered, ideas, will an organization, consistently benefit, and become stronger!
7. Purpose; please others: Ask what the purpose of a proposal is, and, demand, anyone in a position of leadership, emphasize, pleasing others, instead of, merely, focusing on his personal agenda, and/ or self - interest!
8. Listen; learn; leadership: No one has all the answers! Therefore, it's essential to effectively listen, and learn, from every conversation, and experience, in order to proceed with the utmost degree of genuine empathy! Isn't that, the true definition, of leadership?
9. Ethics; empathy; effort; emphasis; excellence; endurance: One must never abandon his commitment to ethical behavior! He must proceed with genuine empathy, and use his efforts, to place his emphasis, where it will best serve others! Every action must be based on meaningful excellence, and the endurance, to fight - on, until the necessary objectives, are achieved!
10. System; service; sustainable; solutions; stronger: It should be the goal of every leader, to leave his group, stronger, and more sustainable, than he found it, when he began! He must create the best system, to achieve his objectives, and commit to the finest level of service, which emphasizes solutions, which make sense!
